Alex Pilas is Eataly's Executive Chef and has been since Day One. He has been with the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group for over 10 years. His first position within the company was as a line cook at Lupa, where he quickly rose up the ranks and became Sous Chef, under Mark Ladner for five years. Five years ago, alongside Mario Batali, Lidia & Joe Bastianich, Alex opened Del Posto as a Sous Chef and later became the Executive Banquet Chef in charge of private dining. The successful opening of Eataly in August 2010 marks another vast achievement in Alex’s already impressive career. Alex was born in Korea and was raised in New Jersey. His favorite food is pasta, of any kind!
